The Chennai Lounge, is marking its first anniversary with a charitable feast. The establishment, which recently claimed the title of Best New Indian Restaurant in UK, will host a fundraising dinner on Saturday, March 1st, benefiting Mountbatten Hospice. Saints commentator Adam Blackmore will host the evening.

Located on Terminus Terrace adjacent to Oxford Street, Chennai Lounge has quickly established itself as a culinary destination in its inaugural year. The anniversary celebration aims to raise £5,000 for Mountbatten Hospice through a combination of ticket sales, entertainment, and a live auction.

“It’s been a great first year for the Chennai Lounge restaurant in Southampton,” says owner Kannan. “We have concentrated on making our Indian food the best it can be, and this was recognised with the award.” He acknowledges the restaurant’s journey, including periods when their popularity outpaced their capacity. “With more experienced staff joining, we now have the complete dining experience—the best Indian food in the area and friendly customer service.”

Supporting Local Care

The beneficiary of the evening, Mountbatten Hospice, holds a special place in Southampton’s community as the county’s oldest and largest hospice. Operating 24/7, the facility provides expert specialist palliative care to patients and their families, both in-home and at the hospice. While the NHS provides one-third of the hospice’s funding, the remaining two-thirds relies on fundraising efforts like this event.

Tickets for this charitable evening are priced at £50 per person, with £5 from each ticket directly benefiting Mountbatten Hospice. The event promises not only an exceptional dining experience but also an opportunity to support vital community healthcare services.
